Details: Filmoplast P is an archival quality pressure sensitive, thin, semi-matte transparent paper tape made from a special acid and wood free paper and long lasting non yellowing adhesive. Common uses are to repair, protect and embed papers, attaching and joining torn pages, reattaching torn out pages, repairing torn pages, fixing thinner papers to passe-partouts, while the suspension remains hidden. The special paper is an ideal combination of stability and strength with softness and transparency. Used extensively in libraries and archives, both the adhesive and paper are buffered with Calcium Carbonate making the tape slightly alkaline (pH ~9.2) to counter any acids in the paper it is applied to. Ageing resistance certified by the Papiertechnische Stiftung (PTS - paper technology specialists) in Munich, branch Heidenau (PBA-No.: 21.495/1). Photograpic Activity Test (PAT) according to ISO 18916 passed.
It is recommended that the tape be burnished upon application with a bone folder to achieve the optimum in transparency. Once burnished down it virtually disappears into the paper, leaving a mend that both looks and feels like the original page. Suitable for mending tears in pages, hinging light weight photographs and prints and reinforcing folds in maps and other papers. Can be used as for labels, and will stick to Mylar.
Areas of application - restoration, protection and joining of documents and papers - bonding of torn papers - sticking and repairing of torn pages - affixing of silk paper at the passepartout.
